The indexing has been running for hours (mdworker, mds_stores, all running at high CPU).After a few hours, the CPU activity drops to normal, but Spotlight still doesn't work.I have reinstalled Mac OX High Sierra twice. Even if I repeatedly press CMD+Space (showing and hiding the Spotlight UI), the hiding is instantaneous, whereas showing the interface lags.ĭoes this happen to anyone else and what could be the cause of it? Any fixes? The Spotlight interface (the input box) used to show immediately after pressing CMD+Space combination but now, it shows with a delay. I even rebuilt the Spotlight index, even though I'm not having issues with the search performance. I have tried changing it to Ctrl+Space, SMC reset, PRAM reset and it is still present. The delay is problematic because it skips several keystrokes after I press the CMD+Space combination.

It is not present on my Macbook Pro, but it is present on the iMac 27' Late 2015. It probably sound silly, but after upgrading to macOS Big Sur, the delay after pressing CMD+Space has increased quite dramatically.
